THE NEED

The state of Indiana ranks higher than the national average in unintentional drug related deaths on a per capita basis. Locally, we are not immune, as our rate is higher than the state.  In short, even with all the harm reduction efforts and growth in recovery support, the work is not done.

We are doing our part to help by bridging the gap for serving women with the highest recovery needs (NARR Level IV services). Today, we have ZERO NARR LEVEL IV facilities dedicated to serving these women and so we are working to bring Dove Recovery House for Women to Columbus.

NATIONAL & STATE TRENDS ARE MOVING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

Drug related death rates are rising. Trends nationally are accelerating, and Indiana is outpacing the nation.

WE ARE WORSE THAN NATIONAL AND STATE LEVELS

Even with all of our local efforts, Bartholomew County continues to outpace the state and nation in deaths related to drugs.

Many, including the most vulnerable, still struggle to find help for their addictions.

DIFFERENT KINDS OF RECOVERY RESIDENCES ARE VITAL TO SUCCESS

Recovery residences (sober living homes) are important to substance use disorder recovery because they provide a safe, focused setting where recovery can take place. Sober living can be broken up into different NARR ratings (Level I to Level IV) with higher levels including in-residence treatment by certified professionals. Sober living service providers have varying degrees of cost and program features.

the reality of the situation

WOMEN LOOKING FOR INTENSIVE HELP LOCALLY ARE OUT OF LUCK

To get into a sober living home, people are assessed by a professional to determine which type of sober living is needed. As they make progress in recovery they can "step down" in NARR level over time until they are capable of living on their own.

Today if a woman needs the most intensive recovery services, they have no NARR LEVEL IV options locally.
